Kids in Chicago need YOU! Volunteer with Sit Stay Read.
We need volunteers with and without a dog. Every SIT STAY READ program utilizes Book Buddies (volunteers without a dog) and Dog Teams (volunteers with their certified SSR dog.) Both roles give you the opportunity to help children learn to read and inspire them to become lifelong readers!
School programs are Monday through Thursday, from 10-11AM, and require a one-hour per week commitment for eight weeks.
Community programs are weekdays after-school, require a one-hour per week commitment and vary in length from 4 to 8 weeks.
You can also help with projects, community outreach, and fundraising events evenings and Saturdays. A great way to meet people and make a difference at the same time.
To get started, download and print the Volunteer Application and Handbook. The handbook contains detailed information about the volunteer process and is a useful introduction to SIT STAY READ!
Next, register for an orientation and fax or mail your completed volunteer application. We hope to see you soon!
