Part-Time Program Leader

Program Leaders direct the classroom experience by delivering our grade-specific curricula along with a team of trained volunteers (and dogs!). Program Leaders work together with SitStayRead staff and partners to ensure that our programs are safe, fun, and being delivered with fidelity in all SitStayRead classrooms and community facilities. Program Leaders are the primary liaison between the program site, volunteers, and SitStayRead staff.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitate SitStayRead program visits in 3-5 classrooms per week

  • Manage teams of volunteers on-site, ensuring that volunteers are adhering to program guidelines

  • Prepare and transport necessary materials for each program session

  • Communicate regularly with volunteers and classroom teachers via email

  • Accurately maintain all pertinent program data in SitStayRead’s database

  • Participate in at least 1 program per week in a non-lead role

  • Attend SitStayRead staff meetings and professional development sessions

  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work-space

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Must love reading, writing, kids, and dogs!

  • Experience working with elementary aged children in a school or group setting

  • Ability to communicate effectively with varying audiences

  • Advanced multi-tasking and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in Google Business Platform

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel to schools throughout the city

  • Spanish speaking and writing skills are a plus (but not required)

Position Details

  • Part-time: 10-12 hours per week during the school year

  • Must have daytime availability, at least 3 days per week (weekdays only)

  • Compensation is $15.00 per hour
