Cosmo and Vicki are one of SitStayRead’s beloved dog teams, helping young readers build confidence, comfort, and joy through reading.

Meet Cosmo

Cosmo is a sweet, fluffy dog who loves to meet new people and get lots of pets. He also likes to steal food off the counter! Cosmo has been a volunteer for four years and started training to be a SitStayRead dog in 2020 when they started reading with classes on Zoom! He was so excited to finally get to be in the classroom with students. Cosmo and Vicki love being with the students and watching them become great readers. Keep reading!

Cosmo’s Adoption Story

Vicki picked up Cosmo from a nice family in Wisconsin. First they met his dog mom who loved to jump and play. It turns out, Cosmo is just like her! Vicki and her family fell in love with Cosmo right away! He was such a cute little black and white fluffball. 

Cosmo’s Personality

Like every SitStayRead reading dog, Cosmo has a personality all his own. From his favorite activities to his quirky dislikes, these little details are what make him such a memorable companion for the students he meets.

Cosmo loves his family, his toy that looks like a box of Chinese food and running on the beach.

Cosmo is scared by loud noises, like fireworks or thunder, and dislikes riding in the car.

Cosmo’s Perfect Day

Cosmo would eat his breakfast and then go for a romp on the beach. After he was done playing, he would come home to take a nap. He would get lots of attention and a few snacks until it was time for dinner! One more walk after dinner and then some playtime with his favorite toy before he goes to sleep for the night.

Vicki just has one nickname for Cosmo: Cozzie!

Vicki’s Favorite SitStayRead Memory

Vicki and Cosmo really like going to the same classroom a few times so they can get to meet all the kids. It’s awesome when they can come into the room and hear “Hi, Cosmo!” from a gaggle of kids.
