Dog Team Profile

Hope & Dawn!

Hope and Dawn are one of SitStayRead’s beloved dog teams, helping young readers build confidence, comfort, and joy through reading.

Certified Good Girl

Meet Hope

Hope is a big snuggly Newfoundland. She loves people, and will stare any new friends right in the eyes! Hope doesn’t give kisses, but she does drool a lot…

Blue animal paw prints of various sizes scattered on a plain white background, with the largest print on the left and smaller prints trailing to the right.
Large black dog with thick fur lying on green grass and fallen leaves. Sunlight filters through trees in the background. A red object is partially visible on the right side.

Hope’s Adoption Story

Hope’s mom had two Newfoundlands before her, so she knew she loved the breed. Hope was discovered on a rescue website, and her mom Dawn was so excited that she brought her home that same day!

Hope’s Personality

Hope is very mellow, sweet, and loving. She loves to make new friends!

Hope’s Favorite Things

Hope loves food, especially bread. She also loves being rubbed on her ears and tummy, going on walks, and standing in the river.

Blue cross with a white paw print in the center, suggesting a veterinary or pet care symbol.

Hope’s Least Favorite Things

Hope has never been interested in toys (except for ripping the squeaker out every so often). She also doesn’t like broccoli.

Hope’s Perfect Day

Hope’s perfect day would be sleeping in until about 9 am, followed by a nice big breakfast and relaxing on the couch with a human. She’d spend the afternoon moving from nap spot to nap spot, then a short walk and cooling off by rolling around in the grass.

How Dawn Found SitStayRead

Dawn spotted a SitStayRead flyer at her favorite bookstore, Bookies. She called the number, and her and Hope became certified as a dog team in spring of 2026! The pair loves to meet all the students and watch them learn and grow.
