Dog Team Profile

Scooby + Bambi & Sandy + Saul!

Scooby, Bambi, Sandy, and Saul are one of SitStayRead’s beloved dog teams, helping young readers build confidence, comfort, and joy through reading.

Certified Perfect Duo

Meet Scooby & Bambi

Scooby and Bambi are a dynamic duo through and through — friendly, social, and absolutely wild about kids. Together, they bring double the love and double the fun to every classroom they visit!

Scooby & Bambi’s Adoption Story

Scooby was adopted from the Anti-Cruelty Society at just 3 months old, full of energy and ready to take on the world. Bambi had a rougher start — she was rescued from an unsafe environment at only 6 weeks old. Now 4 and 12 years old respectively, the two have been inseparable ever since.

Scooby & Bambi’s Personality

Scooby and Bambi are friendly, social, and love being around people — especially children. They thrive as a team, and their easygoing energy makes them a natural fit in any classroom.

Scooby & Bambi’s Favorite Things

Scooby is happiest with a squeaky toy in his mouth and grass under his paws at the park. Bambi, on the other hand, is a lap dog at heart — her idea of heaven is curling up on someone and soaking up all the pets she can get.

Scooby & Bambi’s Least Favorite Things

Scooby is not a fan of high-pitched sounds — they’re his one weakness! Bambi, meanwhile, would be perfectly happy if the groomer simply ceased to exist.

Scooby & Bambi’s Perfect Day

Scooby’s perfect day is an action-packed one: hours at the park, plenty of treats, and maybe a squeaky toy or two. Bambi’s perfect day looks a little different — cuddles, pets, and more cuddles, from morning until night.

Scooby & Bambi’s Nicknames

Sandy and Saul call them Scoob and Bam Bam — fitting names for two dogs with such big personalities.

How Sandy & Saul Found SitStayRead

Sandy and Saul first discovered SitStayRead through the AKC’s Canine Good Citizenship test. From there, it was a natural fit — Scooby and Bambi have since become regulars in classrooms, literacy events, and community programs. With a combined 14 years of volunteering between the two dogs, the Rodriguez family has seen it all. Their favorite memory? At the end of every six-week session, students hand out handwritten thank-you letters and drawings — a heartwarming reminder of exactly why they do what they do.
