Dog Team Profile
Woody & Stephanie!
Woody and Stephanie are one of SitStayRead’s beloved dog teams, helping young readers build confidence, comfort, and joy through reading.
Certified Good Boy
Meet Woody
Woody puts on a facade of nonchalance, but he knows how to let loose and be goofy too. He loves snuggles and new friends, and especially loves to hang out with kids!
Woody’s Adoption Story
In December of 2016 Woody was found at a rescue shelter, and Stephanie could see how badly he wanted to leave the kennel. When the door was unlocked, he ran out to lean on her and she fell in love instantly.
Woody’s Personality
Woody is silly, low-key, and affectionate. He hates loud noises but loves going outside, and he’s ready to become best friends with anyone.
Woody’s Favorite Things
Woody loves to go on walks, snuggle on the couch, and make new friends with anyone, especially children.
Woody’s Least Favorite Things
Woody gets startled by loud noises! He hates the vacuum, fireworks, and thunderstorms.
Woody’s Perfect Day
Woody’s ideal day would begin with a car drive to a perfect patio, where he could sit, people-watch, and wait for new friends to approach him. It would end, of course, on the couch with mom and her undivided attention.
Woody’s Nicknames
Tussle, Tussle-Master, and Wood-Master are all of Stephanie’s favorite nicknames for Woody.

How Stephanie Found SitStayRead
Stephanie immediately knew Woody’s passion lay in therapy, but when she saw how good he was with kids she decided SitStayRead was his calling. They’ve been with us since 2018, and both love to see the energy that Woody brings into a classroom. The kids always have funny questions to ask Woody, and he has oodles of love to share!
