Meet Mabel

Mabel is a beautiful princess of a dog. She doesn’t bark, and her mom describes her as “the chillest dog you’ll ever meet”. She does love being the center of attention––deservedly so.

Mabel’s Adoption Story

Mabel’s mom found her through a blurry picture on a now-defunct pet rehoming site. She was able to see through the pixels, and after months of waiting she finally drove to Indiana to pick her up. The rest is history!

Mabel is very sensitive and sweet!

Mabel’s Perfect Day

Mabel’s perfect day would be spent by the lake surrounded by her favorite people, where she could roll around in the smelliest things and scrounge up forgotten meat. After lots of sunbathing, she’d head home for a dinner of gently cooked pork and of course, a bunch of treats.

Mom calls Mabel Gumpus, Big Gumps, Goob, and Goobus.

How Annie Found SitStayRead

Annie used to work at a pet store, where Deirdre walked in and mentioned SitStayRead while she was buying her cat food! The pair have been with us since December of 2025, and love to watch kids open up and build confidence. Annie once worked with a kindergartener who was convinced he couldn’t read, but by the end of the program he read a whole book to Mabel!
